			<title>Protection and Maintenance engineer</title>
			<description>Job Purpose: To work as part of a team to deliver the protection maintenance for the London Region. This will involve the testing of all types of protection schemes on the London Primary System as well as dealing with the associated protection faults. Principal Accountabilities: . Ensure high standards of safety management throughout all areas of responsibility . Liaise with Network Control to plan outages in order to enable the annual protection maintenance plan and defects to be completed . Investigate, locate and repair protection maintenance faults in order to lead to a reduction of risk of Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruptions . Liaise closely with Design &amp; Commissioning teams to learn from shared experiences . Be recognised as an expert in the field for protection maintenance, fault diagnosis, and investigation of mal operations - leading to the organisation learning from mistakes and embracing new developments . Training and coaching colleagues - making technical expertise available to all parts of the EHV group and the business . To ensure that the quality of information in the various systems is accurate and to carry out updates as required . Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of work . Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (standby) as and when required Nature and Scope: The post holder will be an integral part of the team responsible for the delivery of all Protection Maintenance and Faults work within the London Region. The work may involve working with other members of the team, but will also involve lone working. Close liaison with the Design &amp; Commissioning group is essential in order to keep up to date with new schemes and to build on shared experiences. It is imperative that any knowledge gained is briefed to the protection maintenance team and EHV. It will be necessary for the post holder to attain 132kv SAP authorisation on the Primary Network. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications &amp; Experience: Essential . The ability to understand protection relays and schemes, cables, switchgear, transformers, and ancillary equipment between 11kV and 132kV . Good organisational and communication skills . HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent . IT literate, including financial and work package (e.g. SAP) . Current valid driving licence Desirable . EHV authorisation on the LPN network . IOSH Managing Safely certificate . Familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets Should you not currently possess the full range of essential skills, qualifications and competencies listed above there may be an opportunity for further training to equip the successful candidate appropriately. If the successful candidate does not possess all relevant competencies for the core grade, it may be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until they have developed the required competencies.
