Are you a Mechanical Estimator looking to join an established, family-run business where you can build a long-term career?

We’re working with a well-established mechanical contractor based in Colchester, with a turnover of around £8 million and an excellent reputation within the industry. The business has built strong, long-standing relationships with a diverse range of clients, from well-known main contractors through to high-profile end clients.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to bring an experienced Mechanical Estimator into their established team.

The Role

As Mechanical Estimator, you’ll be responsible for pricing and tendering a variety of commercial and industrial projects, with values typically ranging up to £1.5m–£2m.

You’ll work as part of a well-established estimating team, taking projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission, while working closely with clients, contractors, suppliers and the wider business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and tenders.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Producing accurate and competitive pricing.
• Identifying project risks and commercial opportunities.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and suppliers throughout the tender process.
• Working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams.
• Supporting the business in securing new work and maintaining existing client relationships.

About You

We’re looking for a Mechanical Estimator with a strong understanding of mechanical building services and previous experience working on commercial and/or industrial projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Estimating role
• A good understanding of mechanical building services
• Experience pricing projects up to £1.5m–£2m
• Strong knowledge of tendering, procurement and supplier/subcontractor quotations
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• A genuine desire to develop and progress your career

Qualifications Required

2+ years experience within an Estimating position, ideally building Services.

Rate of Pay

£50,000.00 – £60,000.00 per year
