Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Jark Norfolk are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor, this role is to start ASAP and is based in the Norwich area.

We are currently looking for a candidate who works collaboratively, is solution focused and is able to build a network of strong relationships with key contacts within the business.

You will be required to assist in placing orders for labour and material sub-contractors, labour only contractors on a competitive tender basis to ensure the business output is delivered within budget.

Working alongside other departments you will ensure project viability and improve cost effectiveness, as well as ensuring specifications are complied with whilst quality is not compromised.

Essential requirements:

- Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying, either obtained or currently studying towards.
- Keenness to acquire a sound knowledge of the building industry process and procedures including methods of measurement, contracts, reporting procedures etc.
- IT Literate (Outlook, Word and Excel etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and towards deadlines

Commercial Management

Assist in the following:

- Negotiating and placing of subcontract orders on a competitive tender basis
- WIP and cash flow forecasting
- Groundwork reviews and design strategies at the Pre- Acquisition stage through to Pre Start
- Monitoring, reconcile and recharge any costs
- Preparation of site budgets, maintaining the development budget in Coins and Excel
- Managing Housing Association Contracts including specifications, valuations and attending meetings on site.

Monitor and report costs:

Assist in the following:

- Processing of all Contractor, subcontractor and consultant orders and payments, variation orders and day works
- Undertaking site valuations of production at budgeted cost on a bi-monthly basis.
- Reporting on savings and excesses against budget costs
- CVR process and help prepare and present information for bi-monthly Profit & Loss meetings
- Final accounts and preparation and presenting cost to complete reports.
