Senior Transport Manager

Due to continued growth, my client, a large food wholesaler & distributor, are now looking to appoint an experienced Transport Manager

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ownership of the Transport Operation.

2. Contribute to annual budget setting in conjunction with Operations Director

3. Responsible for managing your departments Budget.

4. Ensure the Company Health & Safety policy is consistently applied throughout the function by: -

- Leading by example to ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and Company practices.
- Ensuring that safety is paramount and that unsafe behaviour is discouraged, promoting a zero accident and incident culture.
- Ensuring that all team members are trained in all aspects of safety performance.
- Making sure your management team are checking compliance and standards

5. “Make Things Happen” by coaching, motivating, inspiring and developing the company corporate values.

6. Oversee the transport operation in all sister sites, providing support to the Transport teams within

7. Forecast vehicle lease requirements and negotiate favourable terms

8. Oversee department payroll costs giving final sign off

9. Review structures & processes and make recommendations for improvement

10. Translate goals into clear and coherent objectives for individuals / teams as well as monitor performance and hold those accountable for delivery.

11. Develop SOP’s including a customer service element for all transport personnel to adhere to including training out

12. Apply all processes fairly and consistently

13. Make sure your department and everyone in it is operating in compliance of all relevant legislation and best practice

14. Analyse challenges and provide robust, clear and grounded proposals and effective business solutions.

15. Present / communicate at all levels using the most appropriate methods and ensure, as a result, full understanding and engagement of the target audience.

16. Be highly proactive in driving through initiatives and activities with enthusiasm and energy.

17. Apply a planned approach to deliver quality outcomes for customers, consumers and teammates in a timely and effective manner.

18. Demonstrate enhanced interpersonal skills which build trusting relationships in a suitable supportive and collaborative way.

19. Contribute to a successful and effective team environment by effective people engagement at all levels of the business.

20. Driving and exceeding standards for performance and efficiency.

21. Improve and implement current KPI measures.

22. Implement and oversee training & development plans for direct reports.

23. Recruitment and selection of Managers / Supervisors

24. Develop through coaching and training the knowledge, skills and ability of your team to enable them to confident independent decision makers but know when to escalate.
