Laboratory Technician

My client based in Royston manufactures a wide range of scientific products. They are now looking for an experienced, motivated and organised Laboratory Technician to join the Operations team to help with a current exciting project on a temporary basis.


Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Preparation and manufacture of batch solutions.
• QC and testing of chemical solutions.
• Overseeing the general operation of the laboratories
• Organisation of laboratory inspections
• Maintaining laboratory consumables stock, including purchasing and organisation
• Managing the laboratories' chemical inventories
• Organisation of laboratory shipments and deliveries
• Organisation of equipment calibration and maintenance
• Management of Demo Equipment
• Coordination of Lab waste disposal
• Maintaining Health and Safety Documentation
• Enforcing good health and safety practices in the laboratories
• Following of SOPs to manufacture chemical products
• Maintaining a clean, compliant & organised production environment
• Working in accordance with company, laboratory, and general manufacturing Health & Safety requirements

Required Skills:
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task
• Experience in practical laboratory work is essential, ideally in a chemistry lab
• A strong awareness of laboratory health and safety processes
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
• A proactive attitude towards improving the laboratory environment.
• An ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.
• Excellent attention to details.
• Proven ability to understand, follow and convey technical instructions
• Competent in basic laboratory skills and familiar with standard laboratory & cleanroom practices
• Team oriented but self-motivated and able to focus on individual tasks
• Able to react and adapt in a dynamic & fast paced working environment as required
