Vertical Borer/Operator

Jark Glasgow are please to be recruiting for a permanent Vertical Borer/Operator.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To produce quality machined parts as required by engineering drawings and specifications in a safe and efficient manner.

• Safely operate necessary machine tool equipment/fixturing and tooling in line with safe working practices (Fanuc i Series Control; Doosan; 4 Axis with Live Tooling)

• Read and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with customers requirements

• Produce quality assured machined components

• Set up programme and operate machine efficiently

• Provide support to other members of the team when required

• Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process

• Ensuring adherence with all health and safety and environmental procedures

• Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and orderly working environment

• To promote positive company image demonstrating enthusiasm for the company

This list is not exhaustive and the post holder will be expected to undertake duties as specified by their Supervisor.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

Qualified time served engineer with a minimum of 5 years experience in a production workshop environment post apprenticeship

Conversant with; Thread Cutting; Hobbing

Working with various alloy steels

Good knowledge of Oil and Gas industry components

An extensive knowledge of all machine shop practices

Conversant with live tooling operation

Can work efficiently and effectively as both part of a team or independently

Excellent communication and time management skills

Accepts responsibility and willing to take on new challenges

Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated

Good technical knowledge with the ability to learn new processes

Ability to suggest and implement improvements as necessary

Hours: 37½ hrs per week (day and night shift pattern – rotating fortnightly)

Rate: £16.37 per hour + shift supplement

Overtime: Mid week and weekend opportunities
