Welfare Officer

Working in conjunction with West Mercia Police, we are looking to recruit a Welfare Officer an on an initial Temporary Contract for Approx. 6 months.

The main purpose of the role is to co-ordinate the provision of welfare support across West Mercia Police including external counselling, specialist trauma support, psychological support for specialist roles and education and awareness of stress and mental health issues.

The main responsibilities include

- act as initial point of contact for stakeholders seeking access to welfare support
- assess individual requirements who are seeking support
- provide a follow up review and assess if further support is required
- Provide advice and guidance to line managers
- Be responsible for the delivery of force policy and procedures for Critical Incident debriefing
- Collate and analyse date t appraise Occupational Health and H & S Manager
- Support the provision of psychological wellbeing programmes
- Undertake referrals to external counselling providers
- act as point of contact for external providers

As a suitable candidate you will offer the following

- Level 4 in Counselling skills or actively working towards that level
- Registered with the British Association if Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of psychological trauma pathways, PTSD and the recovery process
- Proven ability to provide welfare support
- Experience of workplace Counselling within a complex organisation
- experience of Providing advice to line managers and other stakeholders

The starting point for the salary with this position will be based on a 37.5 hour week and salary of £26,865
